Grupo Antolin, one of the largest manufacturers of vehicle interiors in the world, achieved sales of EUR2,602m in the first six months of 2018, compared to EUR2,594m (US$3,016m) in the same period the year before. Without the effect of currency fluctuations, sales increased 5.7%.

Grupo Antolin's sales reached EUR1,311m in the second quarter of 2018, 4% more than in the same period of 2017. Without the effect of currency fluctuations, the sales increased 9.1%.

Grupo Antolin said it outperformed worldwide automotive industry growth, thanks to the performance of existing programs and new projects launched with car manufacturers. Between January and June, Grupo Antolin launched 73 new projects, 26% more than in the same period of 2017. Global automotive production grew 3.5% in the second quarter.

Ebitda reached EUR198m in the first half of 2018 and EUR113m in the second quarter. The results have been affected by the negative impact of foreign-exchange rates as well as the investment in new factories and in the expansion of facilities. The results also reflect the cost of new product launches. So far this year, Grupo Antolin has opened new plants in Shelby (US) and in Shenyang (China) as well as reaching an agreement with Donghuan to establish a joint venture in order to expand its window regulators business. Grupo Antolin will start the production of its factory in Alabama (US) this year.

The company warned that in the second half of the year, the uncertainty in some markets, such as the United Kingdom as well as project delays in US and China and emerging market currency weakness could affect business performance.

The increase in raw materials costs and the price pressure from carmakers is continuing to affect the financial year.
