German exhaust systems supplier Boysen has opened a factory in Subotica, northern Serbia, the government of the autonomous province of Vojvodina told SeeNews.com.

Boysen would create 500 jobs at the factory by 2024, the provincial government said in a statement.

In 2019, the Subotica city government said Boysen planned to spend EUR65m ($73.3m) building a factory in Subotica’s Mali Bajmok industrial zone.

The factory would supply complete exhaust systems for commercial vehicles and cars to Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, according to the Boysen website cited by SeeNews.com.

The website said the factory occupies 38,000 square metres and employs “up to 400” people. Production had been scheduled to start last spring.
