General Motors Europe's new product roll-out programme gets a further boost when a coupe roadster newly named the Tigra debuts at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Europe's latest folding tin top convertible will be built in France by coachbuilder Heuliez  and has an electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof that opens and closes automatically, and folds almost vertically into a shaft between the cabin and the boot.

The Tigra will have 1.4 litre 90hp or 1.8 litre 125hp petrol engines and a five-speed manual gearbox.

The Tigra nameplate was previously used on a fixed roof hatchback coupe built in Spain and sold from 1994 to 2000.
