Former Ford PR chief Jason Vines, who left soon after CEO Jacques Nasser was fired, has been named vice president of communications for Chrysler, succeeding Kenneth Levy, who is leaving the company to start his own public relations and communications consultancy.

It's a return to Chrysler for Vines who first joined Chrysler in 1983.  He held several labour relations and communications positions, including serving as head of product and brand public relations, before leaving the company in 1998 to head public relations and later external affairs at Nissan North America.

Vines joined Ford in February 2000 as head of communications and, then became partner and managing director of the Detroit-area office of Strat @ comm, a Washington-based public affairs firm.
