• Jeff Wood, Ford director of manufacturing for North America vehicle assembly operations, to head manufacturing in Europe, named a company officer
  • Asia Pacific manufacturing chief Gary Johnson and product development head Kumar Galhotra now company officers
  • Chang An Ford Mazda chief Marin Burela now also a company officer

Ford is moving Jeff Wood from his current role as director of manufacturing for North America vehicle assembly operations to vice president of manufacturing, Ford of Europe, effective 1 June.

The automaker last August named Barb Samardzich, former head of global product programmes, to head product development in Europe, replacing Frank Davis who took up a new role in North America.

Wood replaces Mike Flewitt who has left the automaker "to pursue other career interests", Ford said in a statement.

Gary Johnson, VP of manufacturing for Asia Pacific and Africa, is now a company officer as is Kumar Galhotra, VP of product development for the region.

Marin Burela, president of Chang An Ford Mazda, has been elected a company officer.

Wood will report to Ford Europe chairman and CEO Stephen Odell and John Fleming, head of global manufacturing and labour affairs.

He joined Ford in 1988 as a plant engineering supervisor at the Norfolk assembly plant and has worked in quality and truck making posts as well as electronics development and as vehicle line director for D platform vehicles.
