Federal-Mogul Corporation has launched an Internet application allowing European automotive aftermarket distributors and wholesalers to order the company's brand-name products through its Web site.

The new service, part of the company's global e-business strategy, allows key Federal-Mogul parts distributors and wholesalers across Europe to check product availability, place normal or urgent orders, or inquire about the status of orders with a few simple mouse clicks. Customers were previously required to phone, fax or e-mail orders to local Federal-Mogul sales offices, where they were entered into an order fulfillment system.

European distributors and wholesalers can use the new Web-based system to order Federal-Mogul's popular brand-name products including Champion spark plugs, Payen gaskets and seals, Ferodo brake friction materials, Glyco engine bearings, AE engine parts, Goetze piston rings and gaskets, TRW chassis parts and Nural pistons.

"This is a significant step in our drive to use the Internet for faster, more efficient service to our customers," said Chris Goodwin, general manager - marketing, European aftermarket, Federal-Mogul. The new system is intended to enhance service to Federal-Mogul's European distribution network and will not offer direct sales to consumers, Goodwin noted.

European distributors and wholesalers can access the system on their
personal computers by clicking the E-Business tab at federal mogul.com . After being approved for access and receiving passwords, customers can place orders without any special hardware or software.

Kimberly A. Welch, Federal-Mogul's vice president, e-business and
communications, said the new system is one of several e-business initiatives under way at the company. "We are working to bring a variety of Web-based transactional services to our customers in North America and other regions," she said. "Our goal is to make it easier for customers to do business with us, creating advantages for them in the quickly evolving e-commerce arena."

Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is an automotive
parts manufacturer providing innovative solutions and systems to global customers in the automotive, small engine, heavy-duty and industrial markets. The company was founded in 1899.
