Eberspaecher says its group of companies generated revenue of EUR4.4bn (US$4.9bn) for 2015, up 21.5%.

Improvements in productivity and efficiency, particularly in the Exhaust Technology division, had a positive impact on Group EBIT, which increased from EUR57.7m to EUR126.4m.

However, the consolidated result was hit by one-off effects in connection with anti-trust proceedings amounting to EUR86.2m and stood at –EUR29.2m.

As a yearly average, staff numbers grew 2.7% to 8,611, of which around half are employed in Germany.

"A year ago we forecast annual revenue growth of over 10%," said Eberspaecher managing partner, Martin Peters. We have significantly exceeded this figure and also considerably improved our operating profit in the past financial year."

"Thanks to our stable level of revenues, improvements in productivity and the elimination of one-off effects in 2016, we are expecting a significant improvement in the Group´s consolidated result."

In the past financial year the Eberspaecher group of companies substantially increased its revenue and significantly improved result from ordinary activities. This is attributable mainly to increased revenues from exhaust systems in the USA and Europe as well as successful improvements in productivity. However, the consolidated result was negatively impacted by one-off expenses in connection with antitrust proceedings. For 2016, the Esslingen automotive supplier expects further growth and a significant rise in earnings.

Managing Partner Martin Peters comments: "A year ago we forecast annual revenue growth of over ten percent. We have significantly exceeded this figure and also considerably improved our operating profit in the past financial year." He expressed confidence regarding the current financial year: "Thanks to our stable level of revenues, successful improvements in productivity and the elimination of one-off effects in 2016 we are expecting a significant improvement in the Group´s consolidated result."

In the 2015 financial year, the Eberspaecher group of companies generated Group revenue of 4,370.8 million euros. The Esslingen automotive supplier thus once again recorded considerably faster growth than the market as a whole, at 21.5 percent. Improvements in productivity and efficiency, particularly in the Exhaust Technology division, had a positive impact on the EBIT of the Group, which increased markedly from 57.7 million euros to 126.4 million euros. However, the consolidated result was hit by one-off effects in connection with antitrust proceedings amounting to 86.2 million euros and therefore stood at –29.2 million euros. As a yearly average, the number of co-workers grew by 2.7 percent to 8,611. Of that total, around half were employed in Germany. As an innovation-driven business and source of new impulses in its industry, Eberspaecher invested some 150 million euro in research and development alone.

Martin Peters sums up: "The positive business trend, combined with the syndicated financing arranged in 2015, is enabling us to pursue our international growth strategy independently, and to drive forward our global expansion in a targeted way. In doing so, we are focusing on the needs of our customers, and strengthening our position as an innovation leader."

2015 – a year of commercial vehicle exhaust systems
In the largest division – Exhaust Technology – revenue rose in 2015 by 23.2 percent to
3,845.3 million euros. The biggest driver of growth was once again the commercial vehicle exhaust system business. This was added to by significantly increased call-offs for passenger car exhaust systems in Europe. Above-average growth in the Exhaust Technology division resulting from newly won orders is necessitating an expansion in manufacturing capacity. With this in mind, Eberspaecher is currently building a new plant in Romania (Oradea) and extending its US plant in Brighton (Michigan). In order to position itself even more strongly in the Asian growth market, Eberspaecher has established a further site in China (Chongqing) to enable it to pursue its global growth trajectory. The continued measures to improve competitiveness in the German plant of Neunkirchen have had a positive impact.
Both in its passenger car and commercial vehicle business, Eberspaecher – not least due to the worldwide trend in emissions reduction – is anticipating continued stable growth in the coming years.

Increased demand for thermal management solutions

The Eberspaecher Climate Control Systems division offers a comprehensive range of vehicle thermal management solutions. Its revenue, at 472.4 million euros, came in 10.3 percent above those of the previous year. Revenues from fuel-operated heaters for passenger cars, trucks and special-purpose vehicles as well as from bus air-conditioning systems grew moderately. Increasing sales of vehicles with alternative drives were reflected in significant revenue growth in electrical heaters. In order to provide the necessary capacity required as a result of the growth in volume of electrical heaters and to secure the competitiveness of fuel-operated heaters, the Climate Control Systems division is building a new plant in Poland (Olawa) that will commence production in the course of 2016.

Vehicle electronics with great potential

In the Automotive Controls division, revenue increased by 7.9 percent to 53.2 million euros. Particular contributions were made by increases in unit numbers and Eberspaecher's nomination by further car makers in the area of energy storage and high-voltage technology. Martin Peters sees considerable future potential in products designed for energy and performance management: "The increasing use of power electronics in vehicles offers attractive growth prospects for our still young Automotive Controls division."
