Chevrolet Sales Thailand has posted continued growth across the South East Asian region, including Thailand, for the first three quarters of the year, increasing its share in the region by 15.4 percentage points.

In Thailand, the recent launch of new models, including the Chevrolet Captiva and the new Colorado, also helped strengthen Chevrolet's position. The company posted a 67% growth for the first three quarters of 2011, compared with the same period in 2010.

In other markets, Malaysia maintained its three-digit growth, at 145% for the first nine months of 2011, compared to the same period last year. Other markets that recorded positive year-to-date growth include the Philippines and Singapore, at 29% and 28% respectively.

Vice president of sales, marketing and after sales, General Motors Thailand/SEA and Chevrolet sales Thailand, Antonio Zara said, "In Thailand, and in terms of segment shares, the new Captiva has proven to be very successful. For the first ten months of 2011, we have captured almost 35% of the share in the SUV-C segment in Thailand. This represents an 8% growth over the same period in 2010.

"Since its launch, the Captiva has ranked first in the SUV-C segment in August 2011, with a 51.7% segment share for that month. It was ranked first again in October, capturing a segment share of 54.9%, proving once again the strength of the product we have. And this is just the E85-capable gasoline variant only."

Chevrolet said it also continued to record growth last month. Thailand recorded a 60% year-to-date increase in October 2011, while Malaysia continued with its three-digit YTD growth of 133%. Singapore also posted YTD growth of 28%, against a negative industry figure. Meanwhile, the Philippines, posted a YTD growth of 28% against a negative industry figure.

Concerning the current flooding crisis in Thailand, Zara said, "We want to be able to help our customers the best we can. Since October, we have launched a campaign which offers a 30% discount on spare parts to customers whose Chevrolet vehicles are affected by the floods. The promotion ends on 30 December, 2011.

"Chevrolet has also recently launched a ‘free parking' campaign for its customers. Taking advantage of the available space at GM's manufacturing facility at Rayong, our customers can park their Chevrolet vehicles in the allocated space at the facility - free of charge. A team of technicians will ensure the cars are maintained while they are parked at GM's facility. The service also comes with 24-hour security."
