Spanish builder ACS is negotiating a tie-up with Seat to develop technology and infrastructure for electric cars, local media reported, citing unnamed sources close to Seat owner Volkswagen.

According to Reuters, ACS, whose Cobra subsidiary is one of Spain's leading energy distributors, estimates EUR8bn will be needed over the next six years to build the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles to be used on a widespread scale.

The builder wants to gain experience and knowlege under the industry ministry's Cenit Verde programme to support the launch of electric cars, local reports said.
