Bosch will have created around 2,000 new jobs in Germany this year, despite statements earlier this year by CEO Franz Fehrenbach suggesting that it would be difficult to maintain employment levels in Germany.

According to the German Press Agency, Bosch will employ around 112,000 people in Germany at the end of this year. The new jobs are the result of unexpectedly good sales this year. Most of the new jobs are for engineers in technical centres and in research departments. In an interview with the Stuttgarte Zeiting, Fehrenbach said he placed a strong emphasis on positions for highly qualified people in Germany.

Globally Bosch employs 261,000 people.

Fehrenbach complained about high employer costs in Germany and said that the government should use the current strength of the economy to strengthen competitiveness by focusing on training and research and development.
