Glass interior trim for new Lexus flagship

AGC Asahi Glass said its Kiriko glasswork has been chosen by Toyota Motor Corporation for the new Lexus LS interior.

This glasswork is chemically strengthened glass with delicate patterns carved into it using advanced technology. It is used for door trim ornamentation on the inner door panels of the executive grade LS500 and LS500h.

With the aim of reproducing the original design of a glass artist, AGC has brought together advanced production techniques and technology around Japan under a slogan of "turning craftwork into industrial products". Combining mould design and glass forming technologies with precise processing and specialised polishing processes, AGC has established a mass production process to create a claimed world's first door trim ornamentation.

Under the management policy AGC plus, the group has made a commitment to create products that add various pluses for stakeholders. Pluses for society include safety, security and comfort while pluses for customers include new value and functionality.
