Advanstar Communications Inc. has announced it has acquired First Global Media Group based in London, which publishes six magazines and organises one conference for the original equipment automotive market. First Global Media Group went into administration in January.

The magazine group includes Automotive Sourcing and Automotive Manufacturing Solutions, each published five times per year; Automotive Logistics and Commercial Vehicle Sourcing each published four times per year; Automotive Light Metals published twice yearly; plus the recent launch Interior Motives, scheduled to publish four times this year. Each magazine is published in the UK for a global audience.

The Autologistics conference launched in the United States in 2000, and is held annually in the Detroit, Michigan area. Autologistics will be held this year on 24-25 September, 2002 in Birmingham, Michigan.

"The acquisition of First Global Media's assets adds scale to Advanstar's UK operations, and provides us a base to grow internationally in the automotive industry with established magazines and a strong conference," said Robert Krakoff, Chairman and CEO of Advanstar. "The addition of these properties also complements our leading presence in the U.S. automotive aftermarket industry for which we publish Aftermarket Business, Automotive Body Repair News, and Motor Age magazines."

The First Global Media publications and conference will continue with their existing editorial, sales and publishing management, and will report to Simon Timm, chief executive of Advanstar Communications (U.K.) Ltd. The staff will move into Advanstar's London office.
