An SUV based on the SP concept will be built at Kia's under-construction Indian factory

Kia SP concept: a future small SUV, should be the second model for Kia's forthcoming Indian plant. This is being erected in Anantapur District in the state of Andhra Pradesh at a cost of the equivalent of US$1.1bn. Construction commenced in the final quarter of 2017. The manufacturing facility is expected to begin production in the second half of 2019 and produce up to approximately 300,000 units each year. As well as the SUV, the Penukonda plant in Anantapur District will also make a small sedan. The SP project might be related to China's existing KX3 and/or the forthcoming NP.

Hyundai i20 facelift: mid-life update.

Mahindra & Mahindra showed the SsangYong Rexton for the first time in India but with Mahindra badges. It will go on sale towards year-end. M&M also revealed a prototype of the eKUV100, a plug-in version of its small SUV.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: the Indian-Japanese JV revealed the locally-built version of the rest of the world's latest Swift.

Suzuki Future-S concept: the market leader will finally take on the runaway success of Renault's Kwid when it produces a production version of this prototype. That should commence in 2019.

Tata Motors had two concepts at the show. These were the 45X, which heralds a rival for the Maruti Baleno, and the H5X. This SUV is being developed with the Q502 project code. 

Tata Motors Tiago EV: in 2017, Tata Motors won a tender for the supply of 10,000 electric vehicles to an Indian government-run agency, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The first cars were delivered in December 2017, these being the electric Tigor.
