Model year for North American markets in parentheses

BMW i8 Roadster (2018): the Coupe also gains the same new battery pack offering a longer range which is now up to 53km, on sale from May 2018

Infiniti QX50 (2019): to be available with a 2.0-litre VC-Turbo, the variable compression petrol engine which Infiniti premiered at the 2016 Paris motor show

Jeep Wrangler (2018): will be made at Toledo North with build of the outgoing model continuing at Toledo South into the first quarter of 2018

Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography facelift (2018): 575PS supercharged V8 replaces the former 550PS version

Lexus LX 570 two-row (2018): losing the third row means 15 per cent more boot space

Lexus RX 350L and RX 450hL (2018): three rows of seating from this long-wheelbase body, with six- and seven-seat versions on sale from December

Lincoln MKC facelift (2019): updated safety tech as well as a new front end similar to that of the Continental, on sale in August 2018

Lincoln Nautilus (2019): facelift and name change for the MKX, base engine now a 245hp 2.0-litre turbo while the former 330hp 2.7-litre turbo V6 gains 5hp

Mazda6 facelift (2018): unusually for a Mazda this is the second update and this means the production life will probably be a long-for-Mazda seven years

Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (2019): MRA architecture, should be available with new M 264 four-cylinder turbo petrol with 48 V electrical system

Porsche 718 Boxster GTS (2018): 269kW (365hp) and 430Nm 2.5-litre turbo flat four replaces the naturally aspirated flat-six of the pre-facelift GTS

Porsche 718 Cayman GTS (2018): same engine as the Boxster GTS and gearboxes are like-wise six-speed manuals or seven-speed twin-clutch PDKs

Porsche 911 Carrera T (2018):  370hp (272kW), shorter final drive ratio, seven-speed manual gearbox, mechanical rear LSD, 20 kg reduction

Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo (2018): 136hp motor and 550hp twin-turbo 4.0-litre engine = system power of 680hp (500kW)

Hengtian Auto Redspace EV: prototype of a 2.97m long electric car developed by Chris Bangle with Chinese cities in mind, to be built by Chinese firm CHTC Group

Subaru Ascent (2019): seven- or eight-seat SUV aimed at Mazda CX-9 and Toyota Highlander, LHD only, will be built at an expanded Indiana plant from Q2 of 2018
