Mexico's car industry produced about 1.774 million vehicles last year, down 2.4% from 2001, while exports fell 6.5% to 1.312 million units, Reuters reported, citing the Mexican Automotive Industry Association. "Our production fell 2.4%, reflecting the decline in our main export markets ... because our leading customers the United States and Canada had lower rates of economic growth," AMIA's president, Cesar Flores, said in a news conference, according to Reuters.
