Karl Schloessl, chairman of China Automobile Deutschland (CAD), reckons there is no case to answer over two car models his firm imports, the Jonway UFO and the Sheunghuang CEO. The former looks like a clone of the Toyota RAV4; the latter bears more than a passing resemblance to the previous generation BMW X5. In China, this sort of design piracy is rife, but allowable.

After the car received just one star in European crash tests, Belgian buyers of the Brilliance BS6 will get their money back from the importer which, local newspapers reported, has now taken the car off the market.
