China steals a march on rivals in growing Iranian industry

Since the lifting of sanctions on Iran in early 2016 the country’s automotive industry has recovered significantly with latest figures compiled by QUBE, just-auto’s research portal, showing that light vehicle production increased by 13.6% in the Iranian year 1396 (equivalent to 21st March 2017-20th March 2018) to 1.51 million units. This is just shy of the country’s all-time record of just over 1.6 million recorded in 1390.

Volkswagen Group China announced deliveries for the first quarter of 2018: together with its two Chinese Joint Ventures, SAIC Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen, the Group delivered over 1.01m (2017: 891,500, +13.4%) vehicles in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, including 43,100 imported vehicles.


AAM/Liuzhou Wuling to manufacture driveline systems in China

American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM) and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile Industry, a subsidiary of Guangxi Automobile Group, have entered into a joint venture agreement to manufacture driveline systems, the companies announced.
