Robots at the ready: Audi has built a new body shop at Neckarlsum for the upcoming redesigned A8

A busy week for us. Editor Dave Leggett returned from a few days in Korea with Ssangyong and filed this report after interviewing Anand Mahindra, the chairman and managing director of Mahindra Group which owns the Korean automaker. Yours truly had an interesting Monday in Germany, as Audi showed and told all about the new, upcoming A8 flagship's body shell and walked us through the new plant built specially to make it.

We also learned of Mahindra's plans for EVs in the CV sector and learned of PSA's careful, long term plan to re-enter North America, abandoned in the early 1990s.

Simon Warburton continued with a series of reports from his recent Russian trip on Ford Sollers localising in Russia, Magna Rus reorganising and a look at overseas potential for Russian suppliers.

Our Asian correspondent and analyst Tony Pugliese reviewed 2016 and showed how the Japanese auomakers increased their dominance there.

BMW is facing rare union niggle here in the UK over changes to its pension scheme and we are keeping an eye on that. There was also surprise at the absence of a key British union from German talks concerning PSA's take over of Opel/Vauxhall.

Mercedes plans to make its flagship S-class even more autonomous, Delphi talked to us about how cars are becoming smart mobility devices and Kia discussed interior design.

Have a nice weekend.
