The row over air conditioning refrigerant between the French government and Daimler's Mercedes-Benz Cars has kept one of our number rather busy this week.

This is the infamous EU directive at the centre of it all and these are the various stories we have published this week. Make of it all what you will. Having spent most of his week talking in (fluent) French, it's no wonder Simon's on holiday today...

Away from French losing their cool over coolant, there was more (groan, lots) of financial results, bundled here, sometimes accompanied by optimistic comments that Europe, maybe, just maybe, has bottomed out.

Just in case you didn't hear, BMW launched a new electric car and the emissions certification snafu at GM India led to early doors for a few executives.

And, just today, we learned that GM has pulled the plug on dreams of Opel taking on the likes of VW in Australia. After less than a year.

Have a nice weekend.
