Reports circulating in Frankfurt this week suggest (and they are plausible - also, I've been picking up some strange rumours concerning Ford and Renault for a while now) that Renault's main man Carlos Ghosn has been offered a role at Ford.
If true, I can't say I'm all that surprised that he is said to prefer to stay where he is. Ford could do with someone like him on board, but he absolutely walks on water at Renault. I wonder how he'd get on with the politics of Detroit? Ford would be quite an interesting personal challenge for him perhaps, but he still has plenty of work to do in cementing the Renault-Nissan alliance and has only just taken over from Louis Schweitzer in the top Renault job. And anyway, what price happiness?
Good to see some high-level auto industry execs sticking around, seeing the job through and showing a bit of loyalty (though, to be fair, no-one at Renault could begrudge Ghosn if he left now after what he has already achieved).
I'm starting to get a small idea of the scale of things here in China, but really, I'm only scratching the surface of this vast country....
