Things in the US sound pretty grim this week. At least Ford has got a deal with the UAW and maybe bankruptcy for GM isn't the worst scenario if it's 'prepackaged' and comes with government financial help. Jim Press cheerfully forecasting March sales down by 'only' a quarter indicates how the ground is shifting.

But the supplier sector is obviously coming under immense strain as OEMs slash production. It's a lot for Obama's team to take in. And by the sounds of it, Visteon is teetering on the edge of Chapter 11...
