Blog: Dave LeggettTransit Connect for US

Dave Leggett | 6 February 2008

Looks like a smart move for Ford to sell its Transit Connect light van in the US. As far as I am aware, Ford is first to float a European-style light van on the US market and it may well find a niche among small businesses looking for something a little smaller and more economical than the traditional full-size van. And it's a vehicle made cheaply in Turkey, so the weak dollar won't be such an issue (though I wonder how much engineering adaptation will be needed for the US market).

More importantly, it adds to the mounting evidence that  Ford is finally getting more serious about properly leveraging its international scale and operations. It's about time.
