It looks like I may be attending a ceremony that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey is organising on April 20th to celebrate the production start of the new Corolla Verso. Toyota is picking up the tab and it sounds like a good opportunity to take a look at the plant and get more of a handle on what is happening in Turkey generally (plus, I will be driving the new Corolla Verso at its launch later this week, so it'll be a nice tie-up). Toyota is already building its Turkish manufacturing operation up and has managed to overtake Renault to become - in volume terms - the country's single biggest vehicle exporter.
While we are on the subject of Turkey, Professor Tezer of the Turkish auto manufacturers' association has just sent me the latest bulletin from TSKB Research which is full of the latest data and analysis of the Turkish market and industry. If anyone wants to see it, drop me a line and I'll pass it on.
