Blog: The return of the shark-nose BMW grille

Which looks more like a BMW? This, or the current 6 Series? Exactly.
During last week's F-TYPE Coupé launch, its designer mentioned in passing the slightly forward lean of its grille. Which made me think of the way BMWs once were. It seems someone else has been having similar thoughts.
To my way of thinking, BMW was bonkers to throw away what a branding person would term a 'signature feature'. The Hofmeister Kink would never be allowed to go away, so why was the the shark profile front end steadily phased out? I reckon these beautiful renderings prove the point that it should return.
Nissan appears to be close to a decision on whether or not to select its UK (Sunderland) plant to manufacture the next generation Qashqai model or look to make it at an alternative facility in Europe....
I'm starting to get a small idea of the scale of things here in China, but really, I'm only scratching the surface of this vast country....
