Blog: Dave LeggettTehran bound

Looks like I'll be heading to Iran next month as part of a British trade delegation. The trip coincides with the Tehran Motor Fair and it should be a great opportunity to get a handle on what's going on in the auto industry of what could be described as one of the lesser known developing markets. My impression is that the pace of development there has accelerated a little lately - PSA is in there already (market leader Iran Khodro makes Peugeot models) and Renault is following with plans for its emerging markets X90 model. Nissan, Mazda and Daewoo are also there with low volume CKD assembly operations. It'll be interesting to get a sense of how things are developing in terms of both the demand- and supply-side.
