From the you gotta sympathise with the bloke department: Mazda UK PR chief Graham Fudge's display-only blue RX-8 coupe refusing to start and come down off its stand at the end of SMMT test day. Mazda's substitute for jumper leads: one staffer holds the terminals of a spare battery directly against the terminals of the battery in the RX-8. And it still wouldn't start as just-auto, fresh from an ideal-end-to-the-day blast in a Porsche Carrera, passed by. (Graeme Roberts)
