Blog: Dave LeggettRyton

Dave Leggett | 19 April 2006

Early start today with CNN on my mobile phone wanting to interview me about the planned closure of Peugeot's Ryton, UK, plant. I have agreed to go into the London studio for 11:00am. It would seem that much of the media here is stuck into the labour market angle that closing Ryton is a consequence of labour market laws that make Ryton easier - less costly - to shut than a French plant. That's missing the point a bit I'd say, as there's a bigger industrial picture that ultimately did for Ryton. And that's what CNN want me to talk about. It's a live one rather than pre-recorded, so I hope I can avoid 'motormouth syndrome'.
