Blog: Dave LeggettRenault X90

Hats off to Renault. They've done it - a 5,000 euro car is within reach. That's impressive. Use a generic Renault-Nissan ('B') platform, concentrate the engineers' minds and make sure the design is simple and okay for assembly in places like Russia, Romania and Iran. And it meets western European standards too. Can't wait to see it. As with any car, the proof of the pudding will be in the buying. But at least the exercise in meeting that target must have been helpful. I bet Renault learned quite a bit about where cost can be taken out - when you really want to.
