After that last blog I feel an urgent need to lighten the mood. How cool looking is the new Maserati GranTurismo coupe? You have to hand it to the Italians - they know a thing or two about styling. And it sounds like it will be a blast to drive too. In all my years on this planet I have never driven a Maserati, so if anyone at Maserati is reading this and would like to correct that strange anomoly, please feel free to get in touch. And we don't have to wait for the new one - the current Coupe/Spyder or even the Quattroporte would do just fine. There, I'm cheered already.
Still on matters Italian, I was chatting earlier on the phone to a journalist about Fiat. It really is striking how Marchionne has done all the right things and pulled off what looks like a textbook turnaround. The inside story of what he has achieved at Fiat Auto and how he set about it would probably make for a very good read. A full-on business book/autobiog rather than a mere article on just-auto I would think.
I'm starting to get a small idea of the scale of things here in China, but really, I'm only scratching the surface of this vast country....
