Did someone get careless or are we looking at what is sometimes termed the 'black art of PR'? Hmm. Sometimes manufacturers want 'scoop' type coverage to generate a bit of product interest well in advance of launch. From what we can gather, the people at BMW aren't all that bothered that this picture is 'out there'.
