Received a Mazda RX-8 press pack in the post today. Very elaborate. It even has a fussy folding arrangement that involves magnetic strips (that's a bit unnecessary I feel). But where is our invite to the European launch event? That would provide an opportunity to find out a bit more about the new car, planned volumes, the Mazda marketing strategy and so on. Gets the manufacturer coverage with just-auto's global industry audience, which can't be a bad thing surely? Mazda's loss. I'm a bit tired of explaining such things to PRs who - with a few notable exceptions - can't see much further than the consumer press. Rant over.
