Blog: Lutz will be in Montreux for ANE Congress

I've got to hand it to Crain Communications. When it comes to their Congress events, they manage to pull in the industry's big names as speakers. I've just been informed that Bob Lutz, General Motors' vice chairman of product, will speak at Automotive News Europe's annual Congress in June. The annual Congress takes place June 27-29 in Montreux, Switzerland.
Garel Rhys, director of the Centre for Automotive Industry Research at Cardiff University, will also speak at the conference. I haven't heard him speak at a formal conference for a few years - the term Welsh Whirlwind comes to mind. His speaking style is something else - detailed handwritten notes (which he doesn't appear to read, they're more of a prop) and all delivered at breakneck pace. I don't notice his slight Welsh accent these days, but I hope non-native English speakers aren't going to be lost by his furious pace.
Other speakers already confirmed for the Congress include Thierry Morin, CEO of Valeo, Joe Greenwell, CEO of Jaguar-Land Rover, Hans-Olov Olsson, CEO of Volvo, and Rüdiger Grube, member of the board of DaimlerChrysler. Takis Athanasopoulos, chief operating officer of Toyota Motor Europe, will also be
speaking. Plenty of people for me to try and get some time with while I'm there.
