I guess it is a form of good news for Detroit that the forecasters at JD Power don’t see Ford and GM’s share of the US light vehicle market heading inexorably downwards. It can’t fall much further, they seem to be saying, and there is the real prospect of market share stabilisation ahead on the back of rising demand for CUVs. That said, Jeffrey Schuster did say that the two firms have to weather the next two years and if there is not stability after that, ‘all bets are off’. Perhaps best to keep the Bolly and fat cigars on ice, then.
