Looks like Ford management has finally run out of patience with Land Rover. I can’t say I’m all that surprised to hear that they are now talking tough, although it’s obviously not in Ford’s interest to see Solihull go down the pan. They probably calculate that this kick up the backside will be sufficient to get the workforce to agree to productivity improvements that bring Solihull into line with other PAG plants. Will the workforce comply? Most likely yes, but there could be some adverse reaction first. As usual it’s about saving face and no-one being backed into a corner. Ford has just raised the stakes though. Sad to see a brand with all the heritage of Land Rover in such dire straits. Hopefully, the 'roadmap' Fields wants on his desk within two months will be the start of better times for Solihull.
