It is one of those marketing ideas that could, if taken further, straddle the thin line between genius and glorious failure. There is apparently a plan to put the Kalashnikov brand name on an AvtoVAZ SUV for the Russian military. My thought is this - how would that name play on an export vehicle for civilian markets? I'm not sure what sort of design would suit that name (and a khaki coloured Niva wouldn't quite cut it) but it's not too difficult to imagine that Kalashnikov brand name playing well with some people.
