I've just seen a press release that brought a chuckle.
The release, I think, speaks most eloquently for itself:
Tesco petrol filling stations honours sandwich fan Jason Plato with his own specially created sandwich
10th June 2012 – Oulton Park - A limited edition Jason Plato sandwich is set to take pole position at Tesco Petrol Filling Stations across the country.
The Tesco Deli Club ham, coleslaw and jalapeno mayonnaise sandwich has been designed by Jason to celebrate Tesco’s sponsorship of his BTCC team - MG KX Momentum - and will sell exclusively at petrol filling stations.
Jason Plato said: “I am incredibly excited and privileged to have a sandwich with my name on it. I am the ‘King of Sandwiches’ in my house and regularly create weird and wonderful fillings - but this is my all time favourite.
“As I travel a lot with the race team, I am always busy so it is good to know I can go into any Tesco Petrol Filling Station across the UK and find my favourite sarnie. How great is that?!”
The partnership between Jason and Tesco petrol filling stations will also see visitors to the race weekends informed about smart use of their cars, Tesco’s high-octane performance fuel Momentum99 as well as tips on how to reduce the amount of money they spend on fuel.
Peter Cattell, Category Director, Tesco Petrol Filling Stations added: “We’re really proud to be sponsoring the team and we hope our customers like the sandwich we’ve created to mark the partnership as much as Jason does. He’ll need all the fuel he can get to lead the MG KX Momentum racing team in the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season. We’re looking forward to more reasons to celebrate as the racing season continues.”
The Tesco Deli Club sandwich range was launched 12 months ago as an exclusive brand into Tesco Petrol Filling Stations.
