The Times newspaper has apparently suggested that Honda's UK plant has been threatened with the plug being pulled if it does not improve its profitability. The pressure is said to be coming from the parent in Japan and Honda in Japan denies the report, naturally. I wouldn't read any more into it than possibly that Honda may be playing politics. I certainly cannot see Honda walking away from all or even part of the investment it has put in at Swindon. But maybe a report like that in the press keeps the UK plant's managers, workforce and suppliers a little more on their toes than they would otherwise be.
