We've just published an article on Chinese carmaker Great Wall. Some of you may recall that I recently noted with a little mirth the name of its latest pick-up (the 'Wingle'). Decent looking product though, as is Great Wall's Hover SUV. Maybe this company - a relative minnow in China - is coming up on the blind side and can gain a foothold in export markets with these products? We'll see. It's certainly interesting to note that the company is already one of China's biggest vehicle exporters with a domestic/export production ratio target of 1:1 by 2008.
In terms of model names, 'Socool' (as in so cool) has to go down as something of a classic.
I'm starting to get a small idea of the scale of things here in China, but really, I'm only scratching the surface of this vast country....
