If you’ve heard news reports of severe flooding in parts of Britain you might be wondering if just-auto’s offices have been inundated. We’re based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, in the English West Midlands – one of the areas heavily impacted by the Monsoon-like downpour that descended on England on Friday. It could have been worse.
People just down the road in Evesham (where we used to be based) had it much worse than we did and we really feel for them and indeed everyone who has been seriously affected by the extreme weather across Britain this 'summer' (is that what it is?). The area around our office got off lightly by comparison, even if the only route off our industrial estate on Friday afternoon involved driving up the kerb and through a supermarket car park – the main service road being flooded.
Damage to homes and businesses is very sad to see and the emergency services seem to have done a good job of rescuing people who needed to be rescued. There will be a lot of flood damaged cars out there, though.
Anyway, it’s business as usual for us today (though we all have one eye on the weather forecast).
I'm starting to get a small idea of the scale of things here in China, but really, I'm only scratching the surface of this vast country....
