Blog: Dave LeggettDzire

Every now and then a model name raises an eyebrow or a smile. It was the latter in the case of Suzuki's new Swift-based booted saloon for India: Dzire. Great name. I can imagine that name working for a modern-day pop artist, another so-called 'soul diva' that's flavour of the month. Perhaps Dzire has already gone platinum and is now happily semi-retired in Barbados at the ripe old age of 25. There again, maybe she's still cutting her teeth in showbiz. 'She's young, she's hot, she's got a great voice and she put an ice bucket over Gordon Brown's head at the Baftas last week! Hang on to your hats folks and let's hear it for...Dzire!'

To get back to earth for a moment, the Suzuki Dzire is another sign of just how competitive the Indian marketplace is becoming and also how determined Suzuki is to hang on to market leadership (Tata's Nano onslaught still to come). Seven model launches in three years is going some.
