Does the job...

Does the job...

It has been a busy week so far – plenty of meetings and some interesting observations from the locals. Things here are a lot better than they were not so long ago, although the impression I have is that we are still very much in adjustment phase. When will we get back to a circa 15m unit market again? Not for a while.

Wheels have been kindly provided by General Motors: I have a press fleet Chevy Cruze for my stay which is perfectly fine for the job and getting around Detroit. Very nice job on the interior. And I certainly have an added appreciation of the world of automotive interiors after a visit to IAC yesterday. The technological solutions that they have developed – for example, to suggest hand-stitching on trim when it's nothing of the sort – are quite mind-boggling. Also, so-called 'mass-customisation' which would enable you to select your own images for some interior panels in your vehicle is not so far away, by the sounds of it. Imagine what images some people might pick though...
