Blog: Dave LeggettDavid Jefferies

Dave Leggett | 2 June 2003

Monday morning and I've been brought down by the sobering news that David Jefferies, at just 30 years of age, the fastest ever rider on the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course, died Thursday last week when he crashed his 1000cc TAS Suzuki motorcycle during practice for this year's TT races on the Isle of Man. The news missed me last week, but it seems he left the road when flat out at 160mph. The TT races held on public roads on the island sandwiched between Britain and Ireland are notoriously dangerous, but the riders know the risks and still want to participate. Sad news and it puts my morning irritability at a lack of sleep last night right into perspective.
