Blog: Dave LeggettCorsa aerials as wands

Dave Leggett | 29 July 2003

Here's something a little bizarre I've come across. Harry Potter might prefer to drive a Ford Anglia, but it appears fans of JK Rowling's young wizard are rather more taken by the Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa... or at least its aerial. The latest craze that has sprung up among children in Britain has apparently left thousands of Vauxhall owners with stumps on their roof and crackly radio reception. It's thought that because the aerial's design closely resembles the wand used by Harry in his movies, kids have been snapping them off so they can emulate their hero. Reminds me of that Beastie Boys era in the mid-1980s when VW badges disappeared off VW grilles. But the Corsa aerial? I must ask my kids - big-time Potter fans - for their considered opinion on that one.
