Blog: Dave LeggettChris Macgowan's 'automotive desktop'

Dave Leggett | 26 May 2004

I met up with the SMMT’s chief executive, Christopher Macgowan, in Birmingham yesterday morning. He was on good form and looking forward to giving Patricia Hewitt, the British government’s trade and industry secretary, a tour of the show halls. Chris is a just-auto member and also takes more than a passing interest in information technology and web publishing – something that certainly marks him out from some of his predecessors. Besides running the British auto industry’s trade association, he also has a web-publishing venture of his own – ‘desktop.com’. It’s a resource worth knowing about and there’s a useful and lively newsletter that you can sign up for.
