Blog: Dave LeggettBYD

We have published a feature about Chinese carmaker BYD today. It's one of the Chinese 'independents' that has a few things going for it - most notably its electric battery technology know-how. It's interesting how such companies are evolving over time. BYD has, for example, redone its company logo so that it no longer looks like they have taken BMW's logo as a starting point. But some old habits die hard. The F1 city car model bears more than a passing resemblance to a Toyota Aygo.

Will BYD's battery technology be enough to entice a Western carmaker in for some collaboration or, at least, a closer look with a view to possible future powertrain supply?
