Blog: Dave LeggettBMW in India

Dave Leggett | 2 April 2007

Interesting article today from Maurice Glover who was in India for the opening of BMW's new plant there. Maurice pitched the article to me over a few glasses of wine at the 3 Series Convertible drive event in Spain last month. The Mini angle is something I wasn't expecting. It sounds like import tariffs may point towards local Mini assembly - if demand is there. And if making Minis in India eases capacity utilisation strains on Oxford a few years down the line, so much the better. Much depends on how the upcoming larger Mini brand model ('Countryman') performs.
