TAIWAN: Yulon GM eyes import of mainland China cars
Yulon GM Motors is reportedly considering importing some models produced by Shanghai GM in China if trade restrictions between Taiwan and China are lifted.
Local media says that other Taiwanese importers and assemblers are looking at similar moves when an Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) is signed between Taiwan and the PRC.
Shanghai GM has introduced several GM-family brand models into local production in China, including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet etc. Without the added cost from import tariff, these China-made models are expected to enjoy improved sales in Taiwan after the ECFA signing.
