Vehicle production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 74,729 units, down considerably from the 331,376 cars and trucks built last week due to many manufacturers' summer shutdowns and model year changeovers, according to Ward's Automotive Reports. Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 9,777,562 vehicles, up 4.4 percent from like-1999's pace.
