UK: W. Europe car sales up 4.4% in July

Car sales in Western Europe grew by 4.4% in July, the second consecutive month with a year-on-year increase, according to data released by JD Power Automotive Forecasting.

Car sales in Western Europe grew by a healthy looking 14.9% year-on-year in January, according to data released by JD Power Automotive Forecasting.
US: January sales up over 15%
Ever mindful that year on year comparisons are now firmly with the post-credit crunch era, US light vehicle sales, adjusted for selling days, were up a healthy 15.1% to 695,707 units last month. In Detroit, Ford added to the we-didn't-need-a-bailout glow by trouncing its rivals with a 35.6% gain to 114,626. GM topped the domestic maker unit count at 146,343, up 23.6%, and Chrysler was off 0.9% to 56,479.
JAPAN: Mitsubishi books nine-month losses
Mitsubishi Motors posted a nine-month operating loss of JPY19.8bn, 39.7bn yen down from the operating profit in the same period last fiscal year as cost reduction efforts failed to offset falling sales and the strong yen.
