GERMANY: VW models top scrappage chart
Volkswagen models topped a Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) list of car models that benefited most from the scrappage scheme introduced by the German government this year.
According to the statistics, 10.5% of all the vehicles sold under the programme were VW Golf or Jetta models. VW unit Skoda's Fabia was second with a share of 4.3%.
VW's Polo followed, while two GM Opel models - Corsa and Astra - ranked fourth and fifth with shares of 4.1% and 3.8%, respectively, according to Financial Times Deutschland.
